BRENDAN RYAN ANNOUNCED AS LABOUR PARTY SPOKESPERSON FOR TRANSPORT, TOURISM, SPORT & DEFENCE

10 June 2016

Brendan Ryan, Labour Party TD for Dublin Fingal, has been appointed Labour Party Spokesperson for Transport, Tourism and Sport and will also be the Party’s spokesperson on Defence. Deputy Ryan has been given the extra responsibility as Party Whip.

Ryan “I am delighted to have been named spokesperson for Transport Tourism and Sport. This is a portfolio I requested. Transport is a major issue for the ever growing county of Fingal. Metro North is the big project which needs to be delivered and I worked very hard to ensure that the last Government put it back on the agenda. Our bus and existing rail lines are also operating at capacity and with the population of Fingal due to grow further in the next decade we need to see robust long term transport strategies to meet the needs of the county. The North Runway in Dublin Airport is also going to have a massive impact not only on the capacity of our Airport and on employment but also the potential impact the increased capacity in the Airport will have on surrounding communities in the North County. I look forward to representing the communities concerns in the Dáil on this matter also”

Ryan “The development of Tourism in Fingal is also a key reason why I requested this portfolio. Fingal has so much to offer and I look forward to supporting our Council’s tourism strategy and doing what I can to improve tourism in our area”
Ryan “I will be reaching out to our defence forces personnel both active and retired who live in the County to get their views on Ireland’s Defence Forces and our policy. I look forward to this engagement and to the challenge of advocating on across all of these issues during the lifetime of this Dáil”
